ಕಳಬೇಡ, ಕೊಲಬೇಡ, ಹುಸಿಯ ನುಡಿಯಲು ಬೇಡ
ಮುನಿಯಬೇಡ, ಅನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯ ಪಡಬೇಡ
ತನ್ನ ಬಣ್ಣಿಸಬೇಡ, ಇದಿರ ಹಳಿಯಲು ಬೇಡ
ಇದೇ ಅಂತರಂಗ-ಶುದ್ಧಿ, ಇದೇ ಬಹಿರಂಗ-ಶುದ್ಧಿ
ಇದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವನ ಒಲಿಸುವ ಪರಿ

Do not steal. Do not kill. Do not lie.
Do not rage. Do not despise others.
Do not praise yourself. Do not slander those before you.
This is inner purity. This is outer purity.
This is the only way to reach our lord of the meeting rivers.

ಅಯ್ಯಾ, ನೀವು ತಂದ ಊಳಿಗ ನಾನು ಮಾಡಿದೆ
ಮಾಡಿದ ಫಲವ ನಿಮಗರ್ಪಿಸಿದೆ
ಇನ್ನು ನೀವು ಕರೆದರೆ ಬರಲಿ
ಕಳಿಸಿದರೆ ಹೋಗಲಿ
ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ

Lord, the work you gave me — I have done.
The fruit of that work — I offer back to you.
Now: call me and I come,
send me away and I go.

ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಮನೆಯೊಡೆಯ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ
ಮನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಏನ ಮಾಡ್ಯಾರೆ?
ದೇಗುಲದೊಳಗೆ ದೇವ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ
ದೇಗುಲ ಮಾಡಿ ಏನ ಮಾಡ್ಯಾರೆ?
ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವ ನಿಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ

The lord of the house lives inside the house —
what use, then, the house you build?
The god within the temple is already there —
what use, then, the temple you raise?
The lord of the meeting rivers lives within you.

ಹಾರುವನಾದಡೆ ಏನು?
ಮಾದಿಗನಾದಡೆ ಏನು?
ಭಕ್ತನಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಭವಿ ಆಗಲಾರ
ಜಾತಿ ಕೇಳಬಾರದಯ್ಯ
ಭಕ್ತಿ ಕೇಳು, ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ

What does it matter if you are a brahmin?
What if you are an untouchable?
He who is a devotee cannot be an outsider.
Do not ask a person's caste —
ask their devotion, O lord of the meeting rivers.

ಅರಿವೇ ಗುರು, ಅನುಭಾವವೇ ಲಿಂಗ
ನಿಜವೇ ಜಂಗಮ
ಇವರ ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗ ನಾನಯ್ಯ
ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ

Awareness itself is the guru.
Experience itself is the linga.
Truth itself is the wandering saint.
I am a devotee of these three, O lord of the meeting rivers.

ಬಡವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತರ ದರ್ಪ ಬೇಡ
ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಪುರುಷರ ದರ್ಪ ಬೇಡ
ಕೀಳು ಜಾತಿಯೆಂದು ದರ್ಪ ಬೇಡ
ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವರ ಶರಣರಿಗೆ
ಮೇಲು ಕೀಳೆಂಬ ಭೇದ ಬೇಡ

Let not the rich lord over the poor.
Let not men lord over women.
Let not the so-called high caste lord over the low.
For the devotees of the lord of the meeting rivers,
there is no high, there is no low.

ಕಾಯಕವೇ ಕೈಲಾಸ
ಭಕ್ತಿಯೇ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ
ಶ್ರಮವೇ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ
ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ
ಇದ ಮರೆಯಲಾರೆ

Work itself is Kailasa — the mountain of god.
Devotion itself is liberation.
Labour itself is heaven.
O lord of the meeting rivers,
this I cannot forget.

ಸತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮರುಳಾದ ಮನ
ಸತ್ಯದಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತು ನುಡಿ
ಸತ್ಯದ ನುಡಿಯೇ ಮಂತ್ರ
ಸತ್ಯದ ನಡೆಯೇ ಯೋಗ
ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವ ಮೆಚ್ಚುವ

The mind that is lost in truth —
let it speak, standing in truth.
Truthful speech is mantra.
Truthful living is yoga.
This is what pleases the lord of the meeting rivers.

ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಮಾತ ಕೇಳಿ ಮಾಡದಿದ್ದರೆ
ಕೇಳಿದ ಫಲವೇನು?
ಕೇಳಿ ಮಾಡಿ ತೋರಿಸಿ ನಂಬಿಸಿದರೆ
ಅದೇ ಭಕ್ತಿ, ಅದೇ ಮುಕ್ತಿ
ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ

If you hear good words and do not act on them,
what is the use of having heard?
But if you hear, and act, and show it in your living —
that is devotion. That is liberation.
O lord of the meeting rivers.

ಬೇಕು, ಬೇಕು, ಶಿವನ ಬೇಕು
ಲೋಕದ ಬಂಧನ ಬೇಡ
ಎನಗೆ ಶಿವನ ಪಾದ ಬೇಕು
ಪ್ರಾಣ ಹೋದರೂ ಬೇಕು
ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬೇಕು

I want, I want — I want Shiva.
I do not want the world's chains.
I want the feet of Shiva —
even if it costs me my life, I want them.
O lord of the meeting rivers — I want only you.

ಎನ್ನ ಜಾತಿ ಏನೆಂಬರು
ಎನ್ನ ಕುಲ ಏನೆಂಬರು
ಲಿಂಗ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವ ಬೆರೆಸಿ
ಆಡಿ ಹಾಡಿ ಹರಸುತ್ತ ಬಂದೆ
ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವನ ಶರಣನೆಂದು ಕರೆಸಿಕೊಂಡೆ

They ask: what is your caste?
They ask: what is your lineage?
I came dancing and singing,
holding the linga as my companion.
I earned the name: a devotee of the lord of the meeting rivers.
